Prior to December 1, 2025:
Employers –
- Create an employer account with DEED for contributions and leave administration and designate a paid leave administrator in your employer account
- Decide how to split premiums
- Set up a clear notification process
- Decide whether to allow supplemental payments
- Set up your intermittent leave policy
- Employers are required to notify your employees about Paid Leave by December 1, 2025
- A workplace poster, displayed in English and any other language spoken by five or more people.
- An individual notice in your primary language (Word document).
January 1, 2026: The Minnesota Paid Leave program officially begins, with benefits and payroll deductions starting.
April 30, 2026: The first quarterly premium payments are due from employers.
Prior to the start of any quarter: Submit a request for an Equivalent Plan Substitution (if employer chooses to do so)
