Update from MN DOT below on the Highway 14 construction project 7/26/17:
Construction is continuing on the project and last week saw the start of concrete paving. It started at the Del Monte railroad tracks in Sleepy Eye and is heading west toward Cobden. Although the pavement looks traversable, it will still be weeks before it has adequate shoulder, turn lanes and striping and will remain closed to through traffic until it is safe to drive on.
The progress on the project was stalled for a couple of days with the rain last week but the paving crew is working 6 days a week with the goal of completing mainline as quick as possible. The look-ahead schedule is as follows:
Week of July 17-22
• Finished bituminous mainline profile milling
• Started mainline concrete paving
Week of July 24-29
• Start turn/by-pass lane milling
• Continue mainline concrete paving
After Week of July 24-29
• Start concrete paving of turn/by-pass lanes
• Culvert extension/culvert lining
Accesses to Hwy 14 will be maintained to businesses and residences for the duration of the project; contact the project access manager, Joe Miessen with PCiRoads at 612-750-7150 with any access questions.
