The Springfield Community Wellness Team will host a free Parent and Child Sledding event at the Springfield Golf Club on Saturday, January 9, from 1-3 p.m. Parents or another adult must attend and participate with their child or children. The event will take place along the 7th hole of the golf course and participants will need to walk from the golf club’s parking lot out to the sledding area and back, approximately a quarter mile each way. The Ridge Runners Snowmobile Club will assist with grooming a trail to improve ease of walking from the parking lot to the sledding site. Families will need to bring their own sleds.
In the event of inclement weather or not enough snow to hold the event, an alternate date of Saturday, January 30, from 1-3 pm has been established. Information regarding any change in event status will be made via social media and on the Springfield
Community Wellness Team Facebook page.
Participants will need to sign a waiver prior to participating in the event releasing event sponsors from liability in the event of an accident. Parents will need to sign waivers on behalf of their children.
Hot chocolate, marshmallows, water and healthy snacks will be provided as part of this sledding experience and the refreshments
will be served at the Springfield Golf Club along with a bonfire provided for roasting marshmallows.
There will be no toileting facilities at the sledding site, but there are available bathrooms in the club house.
